Bio

 

Remina Nishida hails from Tokyo, Japan.  She started singing at the age of 2 and joined a children’s choir when she was in elementary school.  When she was in junior high school and high school she was an active participant in the drama club, where she started playwriting and also directed a show.

She received a B.A. in Classical Music Performance at Tamagawa University in Tokyo, during which time she also started dance training.  She studied the Classical Music program at London University – Goldsmiths College in the UK.

Following her graduation from Tamagawa University, Remina studied Opera at the Nikikai Opera Institute, Tokyo and joined the Shiki Theater Company.  She performed in Disney’s productions of The Lion King in Tokyo and Nagoya, and in Beauty and The Beast in Kyoto.  She was accepted into Pennsylvania State University in 2007 and majored in Musical Theater, graduating in 2010.

She has performed in Avenue Q /[Old Library Theatre, Playhouse Theatre, Seacoast Rep Theatre, Bristol Valley Theatre (Nominated for the best actress on BroadwayWorld.com)], The King and I [Harbor Lights Theater], The Jackie Mason Musical [Broadway Comedy Club/St. Luke’s Theatre (Off-Broadway)/The Pocono Cultural Center], Cinderella, Peter Pan, Nutcracker, A Christmas Carol, and Copellia [Once Upon A Time, Inc.], and many more.  Remina was also an Assistant Choreographer and Assistant Director for the Japanese choir group Namae-No-Nai Gassyodan when they performed at Carnegie Hall.  Remina currently resides and performs in New York City.
She is a member of Nikikai Opera Tokyo.
